As hunger and poverty continue to be daily realities for many families across Nigeria, the Supportive Pillar Foundation took a bold step this December 2024 with its annual outreach initiative, “No Gree for Hunger.”
This heartfelt effort, rooted in compassion and hope, reflects our commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically No Hunger (SDG 2) and Zero Poverty (SDG 1).

We reached out to families in four communities across Lagos and Ogun States, delivering essential food supplies and spreading the joy of Christmas to those who needed it most. The outreach lasted two impactful days and was filled with stories of hope, love, and resilience. Our team and volunteers brought smiles and relief to hundreds of families, one community at a time.
Day 1: Ope Ilu (Ogun State) and Isheri Oshun (Lagos State)
On the first day of our outreach, our team set out with unwavering enthusiasm to visit the Ope Ilu Community in Agbado, Ogun State. The air was filled with anticipation and excitement as families, both young and old, gathered in hopes of receiving support. Food insecurity has become a reality for countless Nigerians, and this community was no exception.
The joy on the faces of mothers receiving food items was indescribable. We distributed rice, beans, garri, and cooking essentials to ensure that families could prepare nourishing meals during the festive season.
After our time in Ope Ilu, the team journeyed back to Lagos, arriving in Isheri Oshun, Ikotun. The bustling area welcomed us warmly, and the sight of children dancing around made every effort worthwhile.
Despite these communities’ daily challenges, their resilience inspired us to keep going.
Day 2: Ogba and Okun-Ajah (Lagos State)
On the second day, the Supportive Pillar Foundation team started the day at Ogba, a vibrant and industrious community in Lagos. Beyond distributing food supplies to families, this stop marked a significant highlight of the outreach; empowering participants from our skills acquisition program held four months ago.
Three exceptional individuals who participated in the program and stood out during their respective master classes were recognized and empowered with tools, equipment, and financial support to further their entrepreneurial journeys:
- Tailoring Department: One participant received essential sewing equipment to support their business growth.
- Hairdressing: Another participant was provided with tools needed to set up a hairdressing salon.
- Soap Making: The third participant, who excelled during training, was empowered with a financial grant of ₦100,000 to expand his soap-making business.
With tears of gratitude, the beneficiaries poured their heartfelt prayers for the Supportive Pillar Foundation team, expressing how this life-changing support was an answered prayer during difficult times. The empowered participants promised to make SPF proud by using the tools and resources effectively to grow their businesses and give back to their communities in the future.
Additionally, our registered widows were among those we reached out to in Ogba, ensuring that they too felt supported and cared for. These strong women, many of whom are single-handedly raising families, expressed immense gratitude for the essential food items provided.
After Ogba, our team proceeded to Okun-Ajah, a coastal community in Lagos. The community, often overlooked, struggles with access to resources and support. Here, we saw firsthand how hunger impacts not just bodies but spirits. Families who have endured difficult times were overwhelmed with gratitude as they received food supplies to ease their burden.
Children gathered with bright eyes and wide smiles to receive their Christmas packages. The excitement was infectious as they unwrapped the small joys we prepared for them. For many of these children, it was their first time receiving a gift during Christmas. Their happiness was a powerful reminder of the impact we can create when we come together.
Tackling Nigeria’s Hunger Crisis
The ‘2024 No Gree for Hunger’ campaign comes at a time when Nigeria is grappling with a rising hunger crisis. Economic challenges, inflation, and food scarcity have left many families unable to meet their basic needs. In underserved communities, where support is scarce, hunger has become an everyday struggle.
At Supportive Pillar Foundation, we understand that hunger isn’t just about empty stomachs; it’s about lost opportunities, broken dreams, and the struggle to survive. Through this annual outreach, we aim to bridge the gap and provide immediate relief while inspiring hope for a better future.
The Power of Collaboration
The success of this year’s outreaches was made possible by our incredible team, volunteers, partners, and donors. Each contribution, whether time, resources, or funds, played a vital role in transforming lives.

- The Community: The strength and resilience of the people we served remind us why this work matters.
December Communities Outreach 2024: Why No Gree for Hunger Matters
This campaign is not just about giving food; it is about restoring dignity, hope, and joy to families facing hardship. Hunger should not define anyone’s future, and through initiatives like this, the Supportive Pillar Foundation is taking a stand. Aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 2, Zero Hunger, we are committed to creating a world where no one has to face the pain of hunger.
Every package of food and every Christmas gift handed to a child tells a powerful story of empathy, and unwavering determination to create change. Together, we are actively contributing to the fight against hunger and ensuring that families have access to the resources they need to thrive.
